Summer Vacation
It's almost that time of year of when my family and I go on summer vacation in Nantucket. Even though I live in Santa Monica and super close to the Pacific, this water is way too cold for me. So, until July 23 (yes I'm counting down), I'm longing for the salt in my hair, the sand under my toes, and a dark n' stormy in hand.

Fashion Magazine Art
Found on one of my favorite art sites, 20×200, this painting by Lauren DiCioccio is best described by herself:
“Fashion magazines are the source materials for my series color codification dot drawings. I make each piece on a sheet of frosted mylar laid over a magazine page. After assigning a color to every letter in the alphabet (numbers are in grayscale, 0=white and 9=black), I apply tiny dots of paint over every character on the page. Each drawing I make has a different color codification, and therefore a different palette. The resulting painting is a legible blur of dots in the form of the article’s layout — like a system of Braille for the color inclined.”

UNIONMADE
UNIONMADE, a new shop located in Brentwood Country Mart, is a new men's shop here in L.A. that blew my mind. If you're an avid follower of my blog, you'll know that I'm no stranger to the BCM.
Todd Barket and Carl Chiara are the two behind this shop that originated in San Francisco. It has everything from framed vintage bandanas, a vintage McIntosh stereo (that I only recognized because of a recent photo shoot I was on) and my favorite- a huge stack of Whole Earth Catalogs. Some of their brands include Alden, Gitman Vintage, Filson, Pendleton blankets (love love love) and the ever-classic Saint James knits. It's a must if you're in the neighborhood. To love this store as much as I do without being able to wear anything it, it's got to be good.

A Toehold in Paris
Kein Cross, an American interior designer, was looking for a new place to live while he spent his time in Paris. Looking through newspaper ads, he found an 18th-century courtyard house straight out of a storybook.
He realized when he arrived that it wasn't a perfect as he had thought- it was a respectable 19 feet wide, but only 6 1/2 feet deep! Although easily able to stand in the living room and touch both walls, he know he could work his magic.
"Wow! It was like God sent this to me. Regardless of how small it is, you have two floors and a stairway, so you can create light and space. I was so excited, I told them I would pay three years in advance," said Cross. One can see why...

Woody Allen's 'Midnight in Paris'
I don't know how I missed this, but Woody Allen has a new movie out! 'Midnight in Paris' is currently only playing in New York and Los Angeles, and as with any Woody Allen movie, will be a must see. Even this weekend I was channelling Annie Hall in my new Celine sunglasses. I'm buying tickets tonight!

I've always been intrigued by hotels. And why not? They're basically mini homes-away-from-home you get to call your own for a week. The linens, the restaurants, the bars, and the people you meet are all different and equally exciting in every stay. It seems some of the biggest names in fashion design agree- and they're making their mark in the chicest of cities around the globe.

This waterfront hotel includes 200 decked out bedrooms with floor-to-ceiling windows, private balconies, and Donatella's opulent decor. Everything on the grounds is strictly Versace, from the furnishings to the china used in the hotel’s four restaurants.

Barneys has quickly become my one-stop-shop for all things covetable and their co-op line is filling my closet more quickly than my bank account can probably handle. Ready for Summer
My skin is sun-kissed from the past couple of weekend's amazing 80 degree weather and laying out by the pool. It's finally starting to feel like spring here in L.A. and I'm loving every minute of it! Before I moved here, one of my favorite parts of a New York City summer was the plethora of ice cream trucks that swarm the streets, and there were never a shortage of lime popsicles (specifically the Van Leeuwen truck that parked outside of The Standard Biergarten).
So, I suppose making your own is the next best thing. These pop-makers from Zoku are adorable, and freeze in as little as 7-10 minutes. Whether it's a refreshment from the hot sun or a hangover from those dark and stormies, these will surely do the trick. Purchase at Williams-Sonoma here.
