At Home With: Kendall Conrad

One of my favorite stores in LA just happens to be located at my favorite destination in the city: The Brentwood Country Mart. Since I based where I wanted to live out here on the fact that this little cluster of amazingly beautiful boutiques was right around the corner, it's no surprise that one of Kendall Conrad's shops was included in its allure. I love her bags and jewelry so much, that when I lost two of her gold rings that I wear around my index finger every day, I went out and bought two more the very next. Lucky for me, I found the other two, and now I wear four!

In the latest issue of C Magazine, readers can take a peek into Kendall Conrad's home in Montecito, CA. Similar to my apartment (but on a much grander scale), Kendall uses whites and neutrals to create a chic, comfortable space. Shop her boutique here.

Object of Desire: Cactus Necklace

This 'cactus necklace' by Tory Burch was apparently all the rage at a recent showing of her latest resort collection. The perfect way to spruce up jeans and a white tank.

The Ultimate Object of Desire: Krugerrand

I like anything and everything as classic as can be. When it comes to jewelry, I keep it really simple. It's either my grandmother's pearl earrings, or simple gold love knots I got in Nantucket a couple summers back (but I barely ever remember to switch them up). Statement necklaces are something I'm starting to dabble in, but I think I need something that I can wear every day.

While I was living in New York City, I would take the Metro North train about an hour north home to Connecticut on occasional weekends- one being particularly memorable because it was my first run-in with a Krugerrand.

A girl in the seat next to mine explained that her grandmother used to live in South Africa and passed down the Krugerrand to her. She then explained how she brought it to a jeweler and had them place a thin gold rope-like chain around the large coin to make it into a necklace. It was there and then the love affair began.

Hermes Enamel

I noticed these Hermes enamel bracelets on my boss recently and fell in love. She wears them stacked, three or so at a time, and they look incredibly chic. I love that they are inconspicuous (with no branding) and can be mixed and matched for any outfit. Check out all of their enamel bracelets, sorted by colour, HERE.

Golden Glitz & Glamour

The tiniest of details can make all of the difference. All three of these pieces could be worn together with a blazer, rolled jeans and sky-high heels, or separately to spruce up any old outfit. I personally can't wait to curl my golden locks and pop on this headband from Plaza Too. Earrings and cami from HERE.

Raising the Bar

Gemma Redux is a jewelry line designed by Rachel Dooley. She is a self-taught designer that came up with her line as she needed a creative outlet while studying for the Bar.

She creates the kind of jewelry I especially love- big, chunky pieces that have character and individuality. Dooley’s signature look involves hand making each unique piece with layered metal chains and bright stones. Her website also has one of the most interesting and interactive layouts I’ve seen. Take a look here.

The Midas Touch

Cartier

H. Stern for Diane von Furstenberg

Rolex

Alexis Bittar

Sequin

Gold jewelry is a perennial must-have. Above, Cartier’ yellow-gold Love bracelet. Cartier sold 5,000 in the U.S. in the first two months of 2007 (about $15 million worth of Love!) It is still the single bestselling item in their collection. Stacking three of these on one arm would be ideal.

Diane von Furstenberg and H. Stern have collaborated to create a collection of pieces centered around the iconic love knot. I love these hammered 18K gold earrings. Also shown is Rolex’s Oyster Perpetual Day-Date in gold, Alexis Bittar’s Nugget Ring and gold chain necklace by Sequin from Charm and Chain.
